This story begins in a Value Village parking lot in Saint Louis with a $50 Jessie French piano, a minivan, and a deadline to remove the object from the premises. In the keyboard there was kind of magic. I worked on a number of installations and performances with the keyboard and its mechanisms. Images from those performances ended up in Washington DC in 2006, though the keyboard itself wouldn't physically arrive until 2011. When it did, I decided to wire the keyboard to a system of clock radios collected at thrift stores.
